Welcome Blanket

Welcome Blanket is a nation-wide project created in 2017 by Jayna Zweiman, co-creator and co-founder of the Pussyhat Project. Welcome Blanket was initially created in response to the proposed 2000-mile border wall between Mexico and the United States. Welcome Blanket is a tangible way to engage the community in welcoming our newest Refugee population to America.
During the Welcome Blanket project at the Mill Museum, we collected over 85 handmade blankets that were displayed at the museum and then gifted to new Americans in our community.

Mill to Mall: Historic Space Reimagined

Come and explore the Champlain Mill’s recent past! This exhibition tells the story of the public-private partnership that enabled the preservation and rebirth of a formerly derelict industrial building as a vibrant shopping center. Visitors are encouraged to add their personal memories of the historic space to the community recollections included in the exhibition.

Winooski Student Art Shows
The Heritage Winooski Mill Museum collaborates with students at the Winooski High School to evaluate and respond to our collection through art. In the recent projects featured below, historic artifacts in the museum inspired students to create artwork. Students were also invited to curate their own exhibit to share their perspective on life in Winooski today.
