Story Quilt Workshops

  • Winooski Senior Center 123 Barlow Street Winooski, VT, 05404 United States (map)

The Heritage Winooski Mill Museum in partnership with the Winooski Senior Center will be offering a series of free Quilting Workshops to older adults. The workshops will be held weekly on Wednesdays from 10am -12pm, May 22 - July 24th at the Winooski Senior Center. Older adults from Winooski, Burlington, and towns in Chittenden county are invited to participate and are encouraged to attend four or more workshops.

Workshop instructor Lisa Therrien will guide participants to create sewn fabric squares that represent personal stories. The individual squares will be quilted together to create a community quilt. The finished quilt highlighting community stories will be displayed at the Mill Museum then installed at Winooski Senior Center.

To register, please email the Mill Museum at: miriam@vtmillmuseum.org or call the Senior Center at (802) 655-6425.

Questions? Please join us for a Coffee Chat on May 1st, 10am -12pm at the Winooski Senior Center to hear more about the project!

About the Instructor:
Lisa Therrien has been teaching quilting workshops for over 30 years. She has discovered the great joy of watching others gain new skills and find their own sense of artistry with fabric. Although she enjoys stretching her own skills with explorations into a variety of quilting techniques, her usual style falls in the realm of “Traditional with a Twist”.

The Story Quilt Project is supported in part by the Vermont Arts Council, the E.A. Michelson Foundation, the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
